Fire Season - Restrictions and Regulations
* *Fire Season is in effect as of 1201am Monday June 8th, 2026**
McKenzie Fire & Rescue generally aligns with the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) - South Cascade District for fire restrictions, regulated-use rules, and campfire permit coordination.
For information on current restrictions, regulations, etc. please visit ODF - South Cascade Facebook or call the ODF office @ 541-726-3588
Campfire permits may be issued by the local ODF office when fire danger reaches High and are void when in Extreme fire danger.
If you are outside of ODF protection, McKenzie Fire & Rescue may be able to issue a permit, following an on-site inspection, with the following criteria:
- The fire must be hand built in a fire circle. The circle must be built on mineral soil and in such a way as to contain the fire within the circle’s boundaries.
- Fires must be attended at all times.
- Water and a shovel must be present at the site.
- The fire must be extinguished before leaving the site.
- Campfires are restricted to the hours of 8:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M.
- If the fire escapes from its circle, fire suppression costs will be the responsibility of the landowner.
- The permit is only for the inspected private property and the listed dates.
- Campfire permits will be voided once fire levels reach Extreme.
