2026/2027 PIER Funded Water Tank Update
After years of planning, coordination, and construction, it's exciting to see this project become a reality.
Today, we are proud to share photos of two newly completed, grant funded, 15,000-gallon water storage tanks that are ready for service in the community.

These tanks were made possible through Planning, Infrastructure, and Economic Revitalization (PIER) funding, which was awarded to support critical infrastructure improvements throughout the McKenzie Valley. The District was fortunate to receive funding for several additional water tanks that will be installed across our response area, including locations within Upper McKenzie’s Fire District.
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Dehne Family for allowing the installation of a tank on their property along Deerhorn Road, and to Gene Jones and the McKenzie River Discovery Center for providing space at their newly remodeled facility. Their partnership and commitment to community safety make projects like this possible.
Reliable water supply can be one of the greatest challenges facing a rural fire district. These strategically placed water tanks provide firefighters with a dependable water source during emergency incidents, helping improve response capabilities and strengthen protection for residents, visitors, and natural resources throughout the valley.
While this project has been a long time in the making, seeing these first two tanks completed and operational is a significant milestone. We look forward to the installation of additional tanks in the coming months and continuing to improve emergency water access throughout the District.
Thank you to everyone who has helped move this important project forward. Together, we are making our communities safer and more resilient.
